On May 5th, the community was invited to join together in honouring Red Dress Day. We gathered at the Peace Cairn (5527 - 49 Ave near the water tower) at 4:00 PM.
This solemn day is a time to remember and mourn the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). Each red dress represents a life taken too soon, a daughter, a sister, a mother, a friend. Their absence is deeply felt, and their spirits are never forgotten.
We gathered in ceremony, reflection, and unity to honour the stolen sisters, to hold space for their families and communities, and to continue calling for justice and systemic change. Thanks to Gloria and Katherine for sharing their thoughts, to Fiona for the prayer, to those who helped to sing The Grandmother's Song, and to those who came to honour and remember the MMIWG2S+ at this ceremony.

Red dresses were hung in Jubilee Park (50 Ave & 54 Street) on April 29 and were left there until May 5 to help bring awareness to Red Dress Day.
