On October 4th, Rev. Hugh and Shirley, greeted pets and their owners at the Bark Park so that those that wanted could receive a blessing for their pets.
The Blessing of Pets, and other animals is a way to celebrate the life of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis understood at a deep intuitive level the connection of humanity with the rest of living things. He called the creatures 'brother' and 'sister'. He preached to them and he invented the Christmas Nativity Scene as a way to show animals the mystery of Christ's birth. It is important to celebrate our connection with all living things, to celebrate the blessing that is intended by creation itself.
